August 1 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Walking Through History: An America 250 Festival
Celebrate history at Walking Through History: An America 250 Festival, a vibrant, large-scale community celebration honoring the United States Semiquincentennial. Join us on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Smyrna Public Library and Old Rock School Park for a day filled with immersive, engaging, and family-friendly experiences.
This free festival brings history to life through dynamic performances, captivating reenactments, and interactive cultural exhibits designed to inspire curiosity and connection across generations. Visitors will enjoy a rich lineup of programming that highlights both local and national history—featuring storytellers, historians, musicians, and living history interpreters who make the past feel present.
Hosted by Smyrna Public Library and supported by the Town of Smyrna, the festival is proudly integrated into the community’s event calendar. The event is made possible through a grant from the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America 250), reflecting a statewide effort to commemorate 250 years of American history.
Guests can explore:
  • Engaging lectures and historical presentations
  • Authentic reenactments from America’s past
  • Fascinating traveling exhibits and cultural displays
  • Performances by Tennessee-based musicians and storytellers
  • Live music featuring folk, blues, bluegrass, string bands, and early country
  • Opportunities to connect with historic sites, museums, and heritage organizations
  • A variety of food trucks and local vendors
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lifelong learner, or simply looking for a meaningful and fun community event, Walking Through History offers something for everyone.
